The latest report of the Polish Biomethane Organization on the State and Perspectives of Biomethane Plants Development in Poland

What is the Forecasted Biomethane Production in Poland? How Many Facilities Are Ready for Construction? What Are the Main Barriers to Growth?

These and other key questions are answered in the latest report from the Polish Biomethane Organization (POB) on the current state and future prospects of biomethane facilities in Poland.

The Polish biomethane sector is developing rapidly, and the latest POB report highlights both the immense potential and the challenges investors face. The study covered 71% of municipalities and 78% of counties across Poland. A total of 105 biomethane investment projects at various stages of implementation have been identified nationwide.

Authored by Dr. Eng. Bartosz Moszowski and Martyna Mulica-Musiał, the report points to three key challenges facing the industry:

  • Prolonged administrative procedures,
  • Inconsistent data reported by local governments,
  • Still insufficient regulatory support for new investments.

Despite these challenges, Poland has the potential to become one of the leading biomethane producers in Europe. However, streamlining procedures and ensuring a stable support system for investors will be crucial. The number of projects that can start before 2026 will depend on these factors. The next few years will be decisive for the future of this sector in Poland.

More details about the report will be available soon on our website!

⚠️ The full report will be accessible exclusively to members of the Polish Biomethane Organization.

About the Polish Biomethane Organization (POB):

The Polish Biomethane Organization (POB) was established on September 6, 2022, bringing together industry experts and representatives of leading fuel, energy, and heating companies operating in the national market. Currently, there are over 1,500 biomethane plants in Europe.

POB’s primary goal is to foster the development of the biomethane market, which can accelerate the energy transition process and help reduce the country’s dependence on imported energy resources. POB advocates for industry interests not only in Poland but also on the international stage.
